Photovoltaics (PV) is the conversion of light into electricity using semiconducting materials. A standard PV system uses solar panels comprised of many solar cells that generate electrical power by collecting light from the sun’s rays.
Photovoltaic Thermal (PV-T) are hybrid solar collectors or cogeneration systems that convert solar radiation into usable electrical AND thermal energy, combining a solar cell (which converts sunlight into electricity) with a solar thermal collector (which captures the remaining energy and removes waste heat from the PV module), resulting in a more energy efficient system than solar PV or solar thermal alone.
