A New Path to
Energy Efficiency
What is Photovoltaic Thermal (PVT) technology?
PVT is a technology that harnesses both heat and electricity from the sun in the same footprint as a standalone solar PV array. Facility energy efficiency is improved by increasing yield from solar panels while also providing a reliable source of heat, reducing reliance on utility-provided gas and electricity. In cold climates, PVT has a unique advantage over PV because it can melt snow off large or difficult-to-access solar arrays, increasing annual yield.
Tyll Solar’s hybrid PVT system takes it to the next level, setting the new standard for renewable, on-site electricity and heat generation. Ease of installation and utility cost reduction are key improvements over traditional PVT.
What Sets Tyll’s PVT Apart?
For years, photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) systems promised to multiply the energy yield of conventional solar panels by 3 to 4 times — but the technology’s complexity and cost made it impractical for most applications. Tyll Solar has brought it within reach. By eliminating installation barriers and introducing scalable, cost-effective designs, Tyll Solar is making large-scale PVT adoption a reality for commercial and industrial users worldwide.
Rising energy prices and sustainability mandates have made efficient on-site generation more essential than ever. PVT systems, combined with energy storage and advanced heat pumps, can protect operations from utility volatility while driving measurable carbon reductions. Tyll Solar removed the traditional barriers to adoption of PVT through innovations including:
-
- A proprietary, intelligent Tyll SmartBox™ that automates filling, air purging, and PVT-optimized controls
-
- Full compatibility with standard PV racking
